The Boone County Photography club has a new website. It can be reached at http://boonecountyphoto.org or http://www.boonecountyphoto.org It has finally moved from my site and I think it looks much better. Have you ever been frustrated about putting a special character into a Word document or email? Well fear not! Below is a short list of the characters I use often –really– and what keys to type on your keyboard to get them to appear in your document. Of course, there are a number of ways to insert these characters and this is only one. Press and hold the ALT key and then enter the four (4) numbers from the keypad. Yes, even the zero must be entered and it doesn’t work with the number keys above the letters! – Dash Alt + 0150 The last character, below, is “new”, well sort of, and is used when a sentence is both a question and an exclamation. It is called and interrobang and you can hear about its usage from the grammar girl podcast, but it is non standard and shouldn’t be used in formal documents. http://www.answers.com/topic/interrobang http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/ Home Interrobang is located in Wingdings2 Do you have a special character you want to use but can’t find it? There are other useful characters that can be placed into your docs easily by using “insert symbol” and changing the font in the dropdown box. Wingdings are especially designed for such occasions. To insert many other characters in a different way, you can easily go to the “Insert” menu and select “Symbol…” or go to the character map buried deep in your start menu –somewhere around or in “accessories” Peace ![]() Portion of the insert symbol dialog Here is newest picture of Maxwell Murray. Can you tell if he is being tickled? He isn’t really, he just thinks his mother is a real hoot. If you could see what Max was seeing I think all of you would be “ROTFLMAO”. The rest of the pictures will go up in the gallery in a day or two. ![]() This is Maxwell Murray Hey everybody, I will post the pictures very soon but as a teaser check these out. I had the pleasure of shooting Nolan Miller and his family again today. First time for Nolan repeat for his crew. I shot the Miller’s in early December. Apparently, I was using blanks or maybe terrible aim cuz they taunted me a second time and I went out and tried again. (Fear not! this is a mixture of really bad Monty Python humor and really funny Wisconsin hunting jokes… I know they are terrible, but I can’t help myself, I live in Illinois and I had a terrible (ex)governor and I need therepy because of it) ![]() The Millers ![]() What's going on over there? Nolan tried to cooperate, but he was getting frustrated with my ineptness and kept wanting his agent. (He kept asking about M&M’s in the trailer… I don’t know what this meant.) Dan and Daniele assured me that all was ok and I should keep shooting. Ok… I am putting the fun down and stepping away from the keyboard. What you see with these two pictures are the Camera RAW images A.K.A. Digital negatives. I need to do a little work in photoshop or lightroom to clean them up and they will be ready for prime time. Go to the gallery in a few days to see all of the (good) images if they aren’t password protected. Near the end of the session this time, Dylan offered both Marilyn and myself some of his cocoa puffs. Sa-weet! What a tastey treat after two hours of photography. Peace Jeff As I try to grow my web presence, I have decided to move this blog in a different and more generalized direction. As I do this, the site will change a little to reflect the more general subject mater. Yes, it will still be a spotlight for my latest photography, but I would like to add some of my other interests as well. So those of you who read my drivel and enjoy the images, you will still be able to do that. Sprinkled through out of course, will be posts about computers, image manipulation, and subjects that might arise from my day job. I would like to direct my photography traffic to a site I built from the ground up at http://jp2images.com. This is a site that isn’t quite ready for prime time, but it is close enough. There are a number of improvements that I am planning there as well. Primarily, and most important is navigation to and display of the galleries. I had to do something recently I really hate to do. I had to call and reschedule a photo-shoot. I was planning to shoot little Nolan Miller and his family on Saturday. He is a little bit older than a month mow and I thought it would be wise to postpone the shoot till I knew I wasn’t going to make him sick or his family. Happy New Year to everyone. I have two new projects to show off. The first is http://www.jp2images.com The other is http://bcphotoclub.jp2images.com I voluntered to create this for the club so that we can have more services for the club memebers and to improve the marketing of the club. Title: BOTB08 Winner Photoshoot I hope everyone had a great Christmas! As the New Year comes by I am in the process of a complete redesign of this website. Please stand by and let me know what you think. I expect it to be up and running by the end of the week. |
